  2. Pick lowercase or uppercase, with or without dashes.

The same UUID in two formats

Removing dashes changes the presentation, not the identifier. Your generated values will be different from this example.

With dashes:

What to know before you start

The generator creates random version 4 UUIDs using the browser Crypto API. It does not generate time-ordered UUID versions.

UUIDs are identifiers. Do not use the example above, or the fact that a value looks like a UUID, as an access-control mechanism.

Generation happens in your browser. Copying a value puts it on your device clipboard.
