Browser Bridge
Send files, text, and clipboard contents between devices. An alternative to emailing something to yourself and hoping you remember which account you used.
Built with Browser WebRTC API.
Connection Setup
Same Wi-Fi: Use this when both devices are on the same local network.
Different networks: Uses a public connection-discovery service to help the devices find each other. Some networks may still block the connection.
Keep this page open on both devices until the transfer finishes. Switching apps or putting a device to sleep can interrupt the connection.
Send something to your other device
Browser Bridge moves files, text, and clipboard contents between two browsers. Useful when the cable has gone missing again.
- Open Browser Bridge on both devices and choose the same connection method.
- With Direct Exchange, share the invitation link or QR code with the second device, then send its response back to the first. Simple Codes is another option when available.
- Once connected, choose the files or text you want to send. The receiving device can save or copy them.
A photo from your phone to your laptop
Connect the two browsers, choose the photo on your phone, and download it on your laptop. You choose what gets shared; connecting does not grant access to the rest of either device.
What to know before you start
Transfers use a WebRTC data channel with encrypted transport. Connection details exchanged through codes, links, or signaling are not themselves encrypted by this app; share them only with the person or device you intend to connect to.
Keep both pages open during the transfer. Firewalls and network restrictions can prevent a connection; trying the same Wi-Fi network may help.
Simple Codes uses a signaling service to exchange connection details. Direct Exchange lets you pass those details yourself. Connection setup may also contact public STUN services.
